DVD Review ( The Simpsons: The Complete Eighth Season )

Here we are. My last Simpsons DVD review for quite awhile until nine arrives; Simpsons Season Eight. This is another good Simpsons season with even more good episodes. Although I personally think this season is overrated, it's still a great season. My review.

[*] Indicates a "Season Great"

[*]Treehouse of Horror VII: 4.5/5 Included in my top 3 THOHs, this one has Bart figuring out he has an evil twin, Lisa creating her own universe, and Kang and Kodos running in the the U.S. presidential election.

[*]You Only Move Twice: 5/5 Homer gets a job at Cypress Creek under boss Hank Scorpio.

The Homer They Fall: 4/5 Homer becomes a professional boxer.

Burns Baby Burns: 3.5/5 Mr. Burns finds out that he has a son.

Bart After Dark: 3.5/5 Homer, as a punishment, makes Bart work at a burlesque house.

A Milhouse Divided: 4/5 Milhouse's parents get a divorce.

[*]Lisa's Date With Density: 4.5/5 Lisa starts dating Nelson Muntz.

[*]Hurricane Neddy: 5/5 An all-star episode; Ned's house is destroyed by a hurricane and Ned becomes furious with Springfield. Really reveals the other side of Ned Flanders.

El Viajo Misterio De Nuestro Homer: 3.5/5 Homer eats the world hottest chile peppers and hallucinates. He has a quest to find out who his soulmate is.

[*]Springfield Files: 5/5 Homer finds an alien in the woods! But is it really an alien?

The Twisted World Of Marge Simpson: 4/5 Marge sells pretzels for a franchise.

Mountain Of Madness: 4/5 Homer and Mr. Burns get stuck in a cabin after an avalanche buries them alive.

Simpsoncalifragicespiala(D'OH)cious: 3.5/5 Sherry Bobbins is hired to nanny Bart, Lisa, and Maggie. This is a musical themed episode.

[*]The Itchy And Scratchy And Poochie Show: 4.5/5 George Meyer and Krusty The Klown cast a new character to the show in hope of improving the ratings.

[*]Homer's Phobia: 5/5 In what is probably my favorite episode of the season, a gay man starts hanging around The Simpsons' house, and Homer starts thinking Bart may be gay.

Brother From Another Series: 3/5 Sideshow Bob's brother, Cecil, threatens to blow-up Springfield Dam.

[*]My Sister, My Sitter: 5/5 Lisa babysits Bart and learns it is a really difficult task.

[*]Homer Vs. The 18th Amendment: 4.5/5 Alcohol is banned in Springfield.

Grade School Confidential: 4/5 Ms. Krabapple and Principal Skinner fall in love and try their best to keep it a secret.

[*]The Canine Mutiny: 5/5 The Simpsons get a new and more "useful" dog and completely forget about Santa's Little Helper.

The Old Man And Lisa: 3/5 Mr. Burns and Lisa run a recycling company.

In Marge We Trust: 3/5 Marge becomes a "Listen Lady" and gives people in Springfield advice.

[*]Homer's Enemy: 5/5 Frank Grimes becomes jealous of Homer's success and tries to be just like him; resulting in death.

Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase: 2.5/5 Troy McLure hosts a show about what the characters will be like when the show is cancelled.

[*]The Secret War Of Lisa Simpson: 5/5 Bart is sent to military school, and Lisa goes with him. Lisa realizes being a girl in military school isn't very easy at all.

So I gave this season 12 "Season Great" dubs, and it shows just how great this season is. However, it just doesn't compare to the overall greatness of some seasons. Season 8 just doesn't have flawlessness throughtout the whole season. There are some really forgetable episodes in this season, or just mediocre ones. Simpsons Spin-Off Showcase is a terrible episode, In Marge We Trust is a very slow and pretty boring episode, The Old Man And Lisa is far from an entertaining episode, and so on. There are some great moments in this this season, but overall, it just doesn't compare to other seasons currently on DVD. I still highly recommend you buy this season, but it's not the best out there.
